Inflatable PFD Mysteries, Part II is now available from the
National Boating
Department. We are working on a single, combined document that
incorporates the best of both articles, and will announce it when that's
done. In the meantime, Auxiliarists and interested members of the
boating public should download both parts and read them. back to TOP A' Department Launches New Digital Photography Course The Training Branch within the Department of Marketing & Public Affairs (A) has developed a new online Introduction to Digital Photography Course replacing the old Basic Photography course. The new course covers Light, Digital Cameras, Composition, Flash and Studio, Caption Writing, and Image Editing. Register for the new course at the USCG Auxiliary Virtual Classroom. This course is one of the requirements for the Public Affairs Specialist Qualification. http://64.207.134.26/usr/moodle2/login/index.php back to TOP 2008 Auxiliary Marketing & Public Affairs C School Schedule The 2008 Auxiliary Marketing and
Public Affairs C School schedule is as follows: ISC Alameda, CA 15-17
February; CGAS Clearwater, FL 11-13 April; Coast Guard Yard, Baltimore ,
MD 6-8 June 2008. This is an ideal training opportunity for DSO-PA/PB,
SO-PA/PB, and FSO-PA/PB's to hone their public affairs skills. The
classes are also open to elected officers. Register for a class at the
AUX-12 PA School
webpage and be sure to submit your Short Term
Training Request (ANSC-7059/CG-5223) to your DIRAUX via your Flotilla
Commander. The Coast Guard will pay or reimburse you for airfare,
lodging, and a per diem when you are officially enrolled in the course. back to TOP Interpreter Corps Reports Big Success The USCG Auxiliary Interpreter Corps
has gained 33 new Interpreters in November - an increase of 13% in just
one month. The Interpreter Corps was founded in 1997 and now has over
290 qualified linguists and commands 46 foreign languages. The
December issue of the Interpreter News is
loaded with Interpreter reports about their various Coast Guard support
missions. back to TOP Member Training Hours Reporting Update The
National Training
Department has updated the value-added article
Reporting MT Hours to provide guidance on how
and which form to use for the various member training activities. The
article explains the correct use of the 7029 Member Activity Log, 7030
Activity Report-Mission, and 7039 Workshop Mission and Attendance Report
for each type of member training activity. back to TOP 2008 Vessel Safety Check Decals Now Available should be more than adequate to meet
our demands and the demands of our partners. This year's USCG Auxiliary
distribution plan will duplicate the one used in prior years. The
quantity of decals received at each unit level will be a function of the
past year's performance. ANSC has already been given the quantities and
will deliver that number of decals and VSC Examination Record forms,
ANSC 7012, upon receiving the initial order request. Either the unit's
elected officer or the materials office must place the order. For more

Workshop is now available. Intended to provide guidance for Districts,
Divisions, and Flotillas to update their members on Operations programs
for 2008, the workshop is presented in two parts, the
Operations Workshop 2008 Facilitator Slide Notes
and the
2008 Operations Workshop PowerPoint Slides.
back to TOP REMINDER: 2008 VE and PV Workshops Released The US Coast Guard Auxiliary
National V Department has released the
2008 VE and PV Workshops.
The workshops for 2008 are not mandatory but units are encouraged to
hold the workshops to better the knowledge of their Vessel Examiners and
Program Visitors. The workshops are also available on CD from ANSC as,
"V Department 2008 Workshop CD - ANSC 2001A". back to TOP REMINDER: 2008 Instructor Workshop Released
The 2008 Instructor
Workshop is now available on the
E Department Library.
The workshop is required for all Instructors for 2008. A qualified
Instructor or Member Trainer may implement this Workshop at any level.
The length of the Workshop should require 30 - 35 minutes for
