The e-News is distributed to all members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary with email addresses entered in AUXDATA. Forwarding this message to members is not necessary. Read current and past issues of the eNews in your web browser.  Posted soon at http://www.auxadept.org/enews
The Coast Guard Auxiliary e-News is designed to keep you informed of information, issues and programs that affect the Coast Guard Auxiliary. It includes links to official Coast Guard Auxiliary and Coast Guard sites that represent official Coast Guard Auxiliary and Coast Guard programs, positions or policies and is sent only to Coast Guard Auxiliary member’s email addresses entered in AUXDATA. If you change your email address, wish to be included in this mail list or wish to be removed from automatic distribution, please see below.

Invitation to Join the Auxiliary Member Survey List

You are invited you to join the Auxiliary Member Survey List.  The list will be used periodically to ask members to participate in surveys on various topics dealing with the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  This will be used by the auxiliary leadership to make "course corrections" and hopefully improve member satisfaction.  You can unsubscribe from the list at any time, and participation in any particular survey is not mandatory.

To join the survey list, send a blank email to aux-survey-subscribe@survey.teamcoastguard.org .  After doing so, you will receive a welcome letter from the system.  If you don't receive it within a few minutes, check your SPAM  folder.

The purpose of giving you an early opportunity is for us to test the capabilities of the list management software.  If you experience any problems subscribing, please contact TJ Totland, our Division Chief for web services, at totland@verizon.net with the subject AUX SURVEY in the subject line.

I recommend adding aux-survey@survey.teamcoastguard.org to your address book/white list, so the actual survey invitation doesn't get lost in your SPAM folder.

You will have until 17 OCT 07 to join the survey list; after that, subscriptions to the list will be closed.  The actual survey will be distributed shortly after that, and you will have 2 weeks to complete the survey, which should take only 5-10 minutes.

Boating Dept: Reminder - Awards Available from NWSC and NSBC

Few award nominations have ever been received from the Auxiliary. Two organizations offer particularly tempting ones that Auxiliarists should consider submitting nominations for.

National Water Safety Congress: Regional awards due 1 December. Some of these have monetary prizes, plaques, etc. Names of deserving programs should be forwarded to Regional Presidents of the organization.

The National Safe Boating Council offers three interesting awards. First, there's the Boating Safety Youth Award, which includes a monetary prize and a trip to the Summit. Nominations are due 31 December. The other, the Boating Education Advancement Award, is now being restructured, so check their web site for the latest information. Past prizes have included money and trips to the Summit. Finally, the Council's sidekicks 2007 Story and Art Contest for kids offers awards for the youngest safety-conscious boaters.
