2008 Best of Web Awards Announced at NACON

The Coast Guard Auxiliary recognizes the need to communicate time sensitive information to all of its members and each Auxiliary website plays a vital role in the distribution of information. The best examples of Auxiliary websites were honored today at NACON 2008. The winning websites, which receive a crystal trophy and are authorized the 5 Star logo for permanent display on their website, were: 
        District — District 09E
        Division — District 11S Division 16
        Flotilla — District 05S Division 08 Flotilla 07

The 1st runner-up websites, which receive a certificate and are authorized the 1 Star logo for permanent display on their websites, were:
        District — District 11N
        Division — District 01N Division 11
        Flotilla — District 11S Division 12 Flotilla 04

Update to Documentation Revision List for Training Courses

The National Training Department's Documentation Revision List has been changed to incorporate updates in the documentation to support the New Member Course material developed by the Personnel Department. Updates include the Reference Guide, Student Guide and exams. This list has been developed by the National Training Department to provide the current revision of training material required for program qualification and AUXOP courses. All items listed have been reviewed by responsible departments and confirmed as the latest revision.

Auxiliary Search Coordination & Execution (AUXSC&E) Course Replaces AUXSAR

The new AUXSC&E course is now available at ANSC and is ready to be taught in the Districts. This course replaces AUXSAR in the Auxiliary's suite of AUXOP courses. AUXSC&E, which is the Auxiliary version of the Coast Guard's Search Coordination & Execution course, is an AUXOP course, and as such, is not required for qualification or currency maintenance for the Boat Crew program. A new NACON 2008 WIKI site (Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser) is up and running. New Operations Courses Available on eLearn

Two new courses, Operations Policy and Navigation Rules, are now available on eLearn. Operations Policy reviews the Operations Policy manual, preparing you to take the test, a prerequisite for Coxswain, PWC Operator, and several Aviation quals. Navigation Rules reviews COLREGS, preparing you for the NavRules70 exam, a prerequisite for Coxswain and PWC Operator, as well as the 5 year recertification exam. eLearn is an online training resource sponsored by the National Training Department.

2007 Recreational Boating Statistics

The 49th annual Recreational Boating Statistics report contains statistics on recreational boating accidents and State vessel numbering activities. This report is a result of the coordinated effort of the Coast Guard and those states and territories that have Federally approved vessel numbering and casualty reporting systems.
